Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, will hold a talk session ＆ exchange event on the theme of "Sake × Challenge × Immigration" on November 2(土) as a spin-off event of "Fukuchiyama no Hen", a series of citizen participation projects to support people who challenge themselves in this town.

Local Sake （ For those who can't drink, why don't you enjoy soft drinks ） and meet people who make the city interesting and expand your circle of challenge and support loosely together ？

○17:00 ～ 18:30 Talk Session

・ Part 1 ＝ "Fukuchiyama no Hen" 6th change person ・ Mr. Jun Imagawa, the 11th generation master brewer of Towa Sake Brewery, will be on the stage. Under the theme of "I want to deliver sake born in Rokuninbe(六人部)", he will talk about his challenge of moving to Rokuninbe, Fukuchiyama City by U-turn and taking over the family business which was about to close down.

・ Part 2 ＝ We will also be joined by migrants who have recently started making sake in Fukuchiyama City. Kensuke Shoda, a Craft Bank brewer who started making craft beer after moving to Fukuchiyama, and Riyo Tanaka, a distillation engineer at Mori no Kyoto Distillery, who moved to the city to make gin. With "sake" as the keyword, we look at their new challenges and their thoughts on Fukuchiyama.

Jun Imagawa [11th generation master brewer of Towa Sake Brewery] U-turn


Jun Imagawa ｜ Born and lives in Fukuchiyama City. He is the 11th generation of Toji (master brewer) of Towa Sake Brewery, the only brewery in the city. He joined the family business, which was on the verge of closure, in 2008, and in 2011, he revived home brewing for the first time in 33 years. In 2006, she became the first female toji to be certified as a Tamba Toji, one of the three major toji in Japan. In March 2024, she will be the sixth person to be featured in Fukuchiyama City's city promotion project, "Fukuchiyama no Hen".

Kensuke Shoda [Craft Bank Brewer / President of CraftBank Inc. ・ CFO] I-Turn


Kensuke Shoda ｜ Born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture and lives in Fukuchiyama City. Studied architecture and urban planning at Hokkaido University, where he noted that the concentration of unique stores leads to the attractiveness of a town. After graduation, joined an urban planning think tank in Osaka. In 2003, he began living in Fukuchiyama, which he had been in charge of since his graduation, and Sapporo. In Fukuchiyama, he was involved in the establishment of about 40 individual stores. With the experience of supporting the establishment of individual stores, he decided to dive into the world of craft beer, which he had been drinking since he was a university student, in order to manage his own store. After training at Miyazaki Hideji Beer, he founded CraftBank with Daichi Haboshi in 2009 at the former site of a credit union. The beer brand name is Craft Bank. It is an independent brewery where both founders work in the kitchen and as brewers while running the business. Currently, they have moved to Fukuchiyama City by I-turn. Part-time lecturer at Kobe Design University.

Rie Tanaka [Distillation Engineer, Morino Kyoto Distillery] I-turn


Rie Tanaka ｜ Born in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture and lives in Fukuchiyama City. Attracted by the charm of gin, which has its origins in medicinal spirits, she moved from Tokyo to Fukuchiyama City in 2023 to take up employment at a distillery. Mori's Kyoto Distillery will begin full-scale production in 2024 as an "attractive distillery" in a renovated sake brewery built more than 100 years ago. The distillery carefully blends carefully selected botanicals and Japanese and Chinese plants unique to Kyoto and utilizes its own fermentation technology. The distillery is committed to brewing sake that redefines the flavor of the land, which is only possible because of the distillery's close proximity to nature.

What is "Fukuchiyama no Hen"
? Fukuchiyama no Hen" is a series of citizen-participatory city promotion projects to support "Henshi-Hito" (people of change) who take on challenges and change the city. The goal is to expand the circle of challenge and the circle of support.


The changemen, creators active in the advertising world, and city hall staff work together to create visuals and introduce the changemen of Fukuchiyama City widely through posters and full-page newspaper ads.

A local warlord who drew attention for his historical drama ・ A challenging spirit for city development inherited from Mitsuhide Akechi ＝ The Mitsuhide Mind" is the theme of the "Mitsuhide Mind Project" Vol. 3, as well as the 85th anniversary commemorative project of the municipal organization.
